In Linda’s name

In Linda’s name I bear my letter,
A scarlet shame – I’ll not forget her.
‘Say I’m okay, but you know I lie.
I walk away, and this time I die.
The only one to know me at all,
Oh, what have I done to my baby doll?
If it’s all the same, I’ll not count it loss,
But in Linda’s name I’ll take up my cross.

In Linda’s eyes I saw dream set to fire,
But I told the lies that fed well the pyre.
So when history seeks the thoughts that compelled her,
May no one dare speak of the man who once held her.
May conquering the world fill that hole in her soul,
With Destiny unfurled somehow finding her whole.
May true happiness dance the corners of her smile,
If but held from a glance, walking my endless mile.

And in Linda’s mind, may the memories fade.
May God treat her kind for the prices she’s paid.
May her stars always shine – the wind fall in behind her,
And love, true and divine, where she least expects find her.
May her sun rise in splendor, bringing her to rejoice.
May the wishes I send her need not be granted voice.
Yes, if it’s all the same, grant her life every blessing,
For in Linda’s name, I’ll spend mine second-guessing.

Michael Anderson

Like one that on a lonesome road
Doth walk in fear and dread,
And having once turned round walks on,
And turns no more his head...

This is beautiful, sad and so haunting.  You wrote it well, Michael.

Your lament reaches out, Michael, to everyone. Hopefully you will begin to see other things around you and push your sorrow aside long enough to deal with real life.

Michael, [by the way, I have a grandson with your name...makes it very special to me...as he loves to read and loves pencils and I HOPE...well, you know the rest...]

I once thought I held special...and in a way, it was, because I have two very wonderful daughters. By a second marriage, I have a third daughter.

The point: never quit holding on to the fruit.

And I know you understand.

This brought tears to my eyes... How can so few words hold so much sadness... and so much love?
