So little colour now to see as winter takes her hold
The garden stark
The skies are grey
And every day is cold

The ground is now so damp and wet
While moss has made its path
A smile from sunshine hard to get
Or kookaburras laugh

The breeze does whisper cold hello
As sunshine showed her face
The storm clouds rolling on the go
As if an epic race

The steps are wet and slippery
The autumn leaves still lay
The wood heap’s looking sparsely
And may not last the day

The hills I love are covered
The creeks are full to brim
The dams have all recovered
So good times can begin

Everything seems dormant
Afraid to face the day
Awaiting spring with sun and warmth
And friends to come and play

It won’t be long for grass to cut
And weeds to pull and throw
But just for now I’ll wear my coat
As winter time does show

Although the poem was very good and I enjoyed it, Rick, it seemed strange readying about winter's blast in the middle of summer.

It is refreshing to me to read of your Winter, dear Rick, as I am melting here for the heat.

Beautifully rendered atmosphere, I enjoyed it much.

Got me reaching for my jacket as well, Rick.

Your words flow very well together.  A very pleasant read, especially in mid July.

Great poem, love each cold breeze it made. I can't wait for winter to return to Michigan, for the days are close to being an inferno.
