I spoke my love to you; my finest hour,
A deceitful smile; you! love's connoisseur.
I heard angels sing, you! cash register ring,
You opened your arms, I felt an ill wind.

Secret moments we did share, you and I,
I lived only for your laughter and sighs.
Oh, my heart was full; I had found true love,
Stolen moments I was enamored of.

You were married so young and unfulfilled,
You were not happy way up on your hill.
With a husband you could barely endure,
You caught my eye one day; that was your lure.

I was a dirt poor poet spouting verse,
Smiled, she said,
She wined and dined me like I was a king,
I came to her bed, and we rocked the springs.

We were sneaking around on the husband,
She wanted him to die, he was no fun..
Laying in my arms she thought up a plan,
I'd sneak in one night and kill the old man.

Before I stole what I could and escape,
I'd make love to you; you'd claim you were raped,
After the will was read, you would be rich,
I figured it'd go off without a hitch.

Then came the night we did the dirty deed,
I put a knife in his heart all for greed.
As I made love with the love of my life,
I was grabbed and pulled off the old man's wife.

The Chief of Police was there; I was done,
He spun me around and pointed his gun.
My darling beside him, kissing his cheek,
He'll be convicted, the little pip squeak.

And so I was, the chief lied at the trial,
Said he'd been cruising around for awhile.
Something about the house didn't look right,
So he checked things out and caught me that night.

I sit here and I am condemned to die,
Just dues, but her going free I don't buy.
The chief, guilty as me for the foul play,
If I have to come back from hell they'll pay.
