           Unrequited

Only here in the
twilight forest,
where finest thoughts
  and memories
rise and fall as waves
on this sunset mere,
can I speak of your
  infinite charms
with whispered verse
and perfect love …
for you shall never ‘see’ me
by the constant light of any day
  in this passing world
nor among the starlit shadows
  of your dreams.

Beautiful and sad.  You are a dreampoet and we are lucky that you are among us, Bruce.

I like this, as it gives thought to what
the inner eye might sense, let alone, "see".

Enjoyed this, Sir.

There's nothing secondhand about this dreamer/poet.

Beautifully melancholic, dear Bruce! Your poetic whispers are a tender tool of connection ...

Love,
Margherita
