The dust seemed to settle between the two
perhaps the requiem was written too soon

they stopped writing each other
hurting each other as the pain grew

and now silence
as he gave up the fight

and peace settled over the land
and in their hearts

he began to feel her again
hear her again, in his thoughts

in his spirit

He didn't know what happened
the past few weeks, he struggled
as he was drowning...

desperate to find a replacement for her
and so he tried, he met others, but now and again

it all seemed useless,
he gave up

surrendered
to everything

he looked for a new country
a new job

a place where the people are different
values are different

He didnt/doesnt know
if he'll hear from her
if he'll stay
or if he'll go

but somewhere, somehow, he suspected,
somewhere deep in the depths, in the distance
in his silence...

she wept.

Oh so very touching and emotional.

Truly a heartfelt poem, martini man~

Taking the third person in this one worked very well for me. It is a good poem, and one many can relate to. that's the thing. We have all had our heartaches concerning the little four-letter word, l-o-v-e.

~ It's amazing how many women a woman can be. ~

She probably did.  I would think that he would be best off if he worked on healing himself before trying to replace her.

And he was probably the last one who wanted her to weep. Well done, poet.
