Ahhh, bath night, oops thought I was alone. Well actually , that's not me, I'm the one in the bushes with the horns. Did I mention I have antlers too?

OH, OH, OH, OH, OH, OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!!!!

Alison, what a wonderful honour Mommy Moose paid you - of course SHE KNOWS!  Beautiful poem and picture too.  And THHHHHHHHHHANK YOU for posting all these gorgeous photos.  Alaska, always has, does now and always will, in my eyes, belong to Alison!  However, I know you are very kind and are happy to share it with others too!

You have warmed my evening, thank you.

Please tell Mommy and her babies and the moose in the other photo and the duck that Auntie Di from South Africa loves them all.

Hugs

Thank you all for enjoying this.  I love when the moose come into the yard.  They drive my dogs insane and, if I have a garden they demolish it - but they are worth it all.  I have always loved moose (see Doc!) and I delight in their visits.

Speaking of moose, I do just happen to have a picture of our very own Doc Moose.

xoxoxoxo

Again, thank you all.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!  I had no idea that Dr Moose was so gorgeous!

Jokes aside, this is so WOW!

I am emerald green with envy of you Alison, for seeing a single moose once in your life - let alone ON A REGULAR BASIS and HAVING THEM IN YOUR GARDEN!  Oh, my goodness!  Mr Moose is SOOOOOOOOO magnificent - no wonder Mrs Moose (who is also very beautiful) fell in love with him and the beautiful Master and Mistress Moose are so proud of him.  Please give them all my love and tell them all how beautiful and precious Auntie Di thinks they are.

Alison did you take that photo with a zoom lens or do they let you go right up to them or is that not fair on them?  I would give almost anything to be able to be there and talk to a moose from right up close.  I don't suppose they would let me touch them, but I would be so much mmmmmmmmmmore than satisfied to be able to talk to at least one from up close, the way I did once to a zebra foal in the wilds (well, semi-wilds - in a nature reserve so big that the zebras probably wouldn't know the difference).

Hi Diana,

Actually, I took that one from my car with the driver's window down.  He was pretty close and pretty patient.  And when he looked impatient, he won and I backed off.  Moose do listen to voices, but when they are close to homes and dogs and traffic and the stresses of urban life, they can be pretty easy to upset.  Moose have killed people who get in their way.  A big threat is to get between a Mama and her babies - ain't that always the truth.  It's not a good place to be.  I have never been threatened by a Moose - I just give them space, talk to them and take their pictures when I can.  I do have a lens on my camera, but I smashed up my telephoto.  I am going to post a picture here now that I took a couple of falls ago with my telephoto.  These babies were watching me as much as I was watching them and .. yes, I was talking to them.  They are just curious.

Guess you can tell that I love Moose.

And, Doc?  I love a Moose with broad shoulders and trim hips!

How lucky you are to live where you can experience such wonders. I'm equally lucky; I live in the countryside in a remote area. All manner of wildlife visit our neighborhood frequently.

Thank you for sharing all the wonderful pictures.

Oh, the precious, beautiful, angel darlings, Alison!  I can see that they are loving all those lovely things you are saying to them.  I can well understand that moose can kill people who are or who seem to be a threat to them – it isn't their fault - it is the fault of the stupid people who are annoying them and ignorant of their code of conduct - it is just a means of self-protection and intelligence.  You have never and will never be hurt by a moose, because, not only do you speak Moose very well (as well as Animal Esperanza) – which is very obvious from the way that the sweethearts are hanging on your every word - but you understand them and they understand you.  You have inspired me to repost my zebra poem.  Oh, what would we do in a world without animals?

Marti,
