it might have been back in seventy five
or eighty nine or maybe even ninty three
or perhaps it was all of them and then some

when I spilled a train wreck on my jacket
not one of the casual ones, but a favorite
with relationship pockets and love song sleeves

oh I could have borrowed a victim shirt
and receited some long winded poor me lines
but those shirts are too girly most of the time

and would not go with my moving on boots
though scuffed a bit they will polish up ok
and get comfortable down at the cave in cafe

up on the seldom seen empty and walnut bar
or kicking some jesus back into a heathen
just before helping him with his praying time

and I would say a pour me some jack and dan
to get over the most recent collision of mine
where pretty damn nice got derailed at the trestle

and from the sound of things, I can only survive

_____________

daark (highway series)(scribblenote...for those who might be concerned...nothing special caused this poem...was just playing some reruns of some awwwshirts over in my shot glass mind.)

my friend,

that the news today spilled over into such a
poem as yours

doesn't take away from your potency, but only adds
to the sorrow
that the media buzzards shared,
and you know they don't share well.

Be cool, be you...

and don't stop.

Dark,
Love the way you mind works, "kicking some Jesus back into a heathen".

"when I spilled a train wreck on my jacket
not one of the casual ones, but a favorite
with relationship pockets and love song sleeves"

would kill people to write lines like this. seiously, mass murder. Wow!

Smiling at your moving on boots... much more decisive than my sliding away slippers. *G* I'd copy the whole poem to repeat my favorite parts... this is just superb. *S*
