Tide At Low Ebb

Tide at low ebb,
mast without the wind
I'm stranded 'tween the promised land
and the darkness at land's end
the moon hides away
the stars spell out her name
I get the punchline of my joke of a life
and stare at her face framed
by all I've lost to this game
tryin' to find a way back to sane
there's just no way

Ebb at low tide
anchor without a chain
I'm digging up memories of my girl
a time capsule of sweet pain
the sky trembles slow
the clouds tumble on down
the farther you dig deep in the sand
the more it unbends your frown
the pretty picture I have found
wish I can remember the sound
of her laughter now

Low ebb,
low tide
I've given my soul till it's in the red
now I'm looking for a place to hide
a place to tell all my secrets
love of a girl I can't forget
but I can't quite remember
and the stars keep shinin' for her
but I'm wrestlin' with regrets
they run deep and wide
and I'm caught up in nets
at low ebb and high tide

Tide at low ebb
sailor without treasure
I'll keep roaming these waters
until I find any hint of her
a baybreeze scent
eyes like a coral reef
so tell me why, in her every lie
I always tried to believe
I always tried to conceive
of a day when I'll turn over a leaf
find out she didn't leave
yeah she's still right here with me
but then I awake to a scent of baybreeze
and I'm off to try and find
a way out of this low tide

Tide at low ebb
mast without the wind
but if I must, I'll paddle to the promise land
and perhaps I'll find my brightness where the world begins
where the world began

Wonderful work soul drifter, each line is so full of beauty and deep emotion.

Exquisitely espressed, and a metaphor I am forever partial to.

Gosh, I just love reading you.

A wandering and lost lover clinging to the past and afraid of the future as he desperately searching for the girl who is not more, except in his nightmares.

A classic tale of heartbreak and woe . . .
