Let Right Be Done
(Inspired by the 1999 British movie, "The Winslow Boy")

Must we not heed those words
lest we fall irrevocably victim
to the patient shadows of darkness
where forked tongues stand watchful
feeding on our lust for ease
thirsting for the weakness within us
to stumble and lose ourselves
in their lair wherein one's
nemesis reign with sharpened sense
spewing forth their doctrine
crowned with jubilant and invidious glee
awaiting our before intrepid souls
to stray from right's path
invigorated by our lack of will
they rejoice as we stagger
and succumb to deceit's lure
watching as with now lax will
we don the robes of deceit
that fit with such increasing ease
as thread by tattered thread
we shrug away truth's cloak
and soon lies drift from our tongues
as effortlessly as pollen floats upon the wind.

Me too. I'll bet the poem is better.

Exceptional work, dear Marcia, your psychological approach reflects such situations very sharply. (went to read the summary of the story)

Love,
Margherita
