he was musical with his bag of cans
and the too big boots
that he scuffed the smooth with

used to hum too sometimes
not anything completed before
just pieces of life he said

and he would roll his eyes too
at the pretty skin girls
with wrinkled up manmade noses

they found him in his bus yesterday
with photos of his children
had written songs for both of them

and paperclips made them a family again

______________

daark (highway series)(scribblenote...bob "slow" lane, viet nam vet that everyone figured was just a bum..can man...scruffy and a bit of dirt and wine...he passed away quietly in his old bus...had a bronze star, a violin that was worth a few thousand bucks and photos of his kids he had not seen in 20 years...for those who were curious)

You have an eye for the stories in life.  It's why you should make a picture books of words.  Me and Donna agree on this.  Make it so, number 1.

Hey, I know that book.  I think I snuck a couple of poems between yours.

How extremely poignant, dear Poet. I guess the music helped him to remove the horrors of the war at least temporarily.
Sad, he died alone and misunderstood too.

Very impressive poetic rendering.

Love,
