The morning sun lifts its yellow head above the evergreens just east of us.
My wife awoke dreamimg that she was shopping for gifts with her parents.
Who have been gone for many years and wondering why she was in bed.
She has Ahzheimer's now, and sometimes doesn't remember my name.
Although, we have been married many years having children, and grandchildren.
And even a couple of great grandchildren, only one of which lives close to us.
Our concilor tells me I should journal, so I am writing this what, poem?
Lucky me, there is a fine arts radio station nearby so I can listen to Mozart.
While composing something, or painting with watercolors.
Everyone I know, my age wants to be young again, but these are the best years of my life.
Goodby all, thanks for reading.

I like stream-of-consciousness pieces.  I've written a few myself. I hope that journaling helps you through this trying time, and I'm glad you're sharing your thoughts with us.

Hi Duck

I enjoyed your conversational poem very much, and yes, it is a poem.  Just my opinion, but I preferred to read that last line as a separate message from you and not part of the poem - but that is just me. I also read "Goodbye" as being the end of that message and not the end of  your time on our poetry forum.

I am very sorry to hear that your wife has Alzheimer's.  That must be very hard for all of you.

Ah, listening to Mozart, composing music, painting water colours - what wonderful peace and happiness that must bring.  I wish I could compose or paint - especially water colours.

I am 65½ and proud of it and love being 65½ and I don't want to be young again - I don't think the O-word is a bad one, but a badge of achievement - but then I have exceptional health, so that makes it a lot easier.

Welcome to Pip (the abbreviation we use for the forum) and thank you for reading some of my poems.  I have read your replies and will be responding to them shortly.

"Everyone I know, my age wants to be young again, but these are the best years of my life."

I agree to a point, Duck. Funny thing, I have just begun a new novel where this man on his deathbed called for the Devil so he can make a deal with him like he's seen in the movies. The Devil didn't should up, but God did. This man wants to go back and "change" things that he did wrong.

Sorry about your wife.
