ME. In the Shadow of the Mt.

I wrote this poem for my 4yr old grandaugther Addison. This is part of a childerns book that I'm working on.

FIREFLY LULLABY

Addison's eyes grew open wide
To stare at the wonders of outside
Her window open to the night sky
To see a shooting star pass by

And in the starry endless night
There was a flickering little light
And out of the dark to her surprise
Came forth the dancing of fireflies

As she gazed up from her bed
They danced in pairs above her head
As she watched she began to hear
The sound of music in her ear

They sang to her the evening song
And soon she began to hum along
Joined by crickets chirping in tune
While bullfrogs were croaking at the moon

To her sleeping sister, she gave a quick glance
Then whispered to the fireflies, "Can you teach me how to dance?"
They flickered their lights up and down
As they twinkled and twirled all around

Addison giggled in pure delight
At the magical show if twinkling light
Then ladybugs arrived and started tapping their feet
While ants on the window sill were jiving to the beat

Soon she was dancing upon her bed
With fireflies playfully circiling her head
She loved those tiny lightning bugs
And wished she could give them little hugs

Too soon it was time to say goodbye
So they sang her one last lullaby
And as she slowly closed her eyes
Out danced the little fireflies

This was cool for your granddaughter. She is going to have some wonderful memories about her grandmother for many, many years to come. Enjoyed it myself.

Delightful, dear Karen. Magical, inspiring and very creative. This write will bring joy not only to your granddaughter, but to many children and also adults, who - just like me - love the fantastic world of childhood.

Congratulations for your project!

Love,
Margherita
