Oh, da moon looks so strange
It's a harvest moon night don't'ja'know
Dat moon is blood red
On a Louisiana Saturday Night
Down at Jolie Blon's Lagniappe
Smell that crawfish boiling in dat pot
Don’t forget to add dem taters and garlic, sha
Close dat screen door, flies are getting out
Peoples startin' ta do a little jitterbugging
On da hardwood floor
Saturday night time to let it all hang loose
Been working hard fa da whole damn week
Shoulder to dat wheel, grindstone up the . . .
Dat hot grease jest about right
Be throwing in some sac-a-lait soon
Fry 'em up nice and brown and take 'em out
Foot tapping zydeco, accordion and rub-board
Gets dem feets ta flying, sha
Forgettin' about ya trouble
And the little misses done come up with child again
Can't hardly feed da ones ya got
But tonight it's laissez les bon temps rouler
Along with the fried sac-a-lait
We shimmy and shake, shoulders rollin'
Hips a-swaying and soon the band breaks
Into some slow, getting' ta know yo partner better
Kinda music
Been dancing to the hot licks zydeco all night long
Time for some Louisiana two-step
Head on shoulder kind of relaxing music
Where my honey whispers in my ear
When I get you home, sha
I'm gonna fricassee ya lovin' tool down to nuttin'
Then start all over again
AAieee!!!

My brown-skinned honey's lovin' was
Battered and prime time
Ah, ya, Saturday Night at Jolie Blon's Lagniappe

I truely get the feeling that I am sitting in a Louisiana jass joint with a cold beer in my hand waiting for my order of crawfish to arrive.
Delightful poem. What a talent you have!

You got it all Jerry, the sights, sounds, smells and the real McCoy conversation. Way to go my friend. You made me hungry.

I have been in Louisiana for a catfish festival of all things, and as a Canuck I could barely understand the language they were speaking LOL.  You took me back to a wonderfully pleasant time in my life, thank you.

I am sending this to Karen (Serenity) and I bet she will have something to say about this.

Haha! I hear what you're saying, sha, the accent gets a bit heavy from time to time, especially at an old-fashioned Cajun dance. Thanks for your kind remarks.

Dear Jerry,
I can tell you had as much fun writing this as I did reading it. Great poem my friend. I felt as though I was there and wish I had been.
