Somewhere along the learning curve
my train of thought jumped track
"Old Charlie stole the handle"
"Casey Jones" won't bring it back.

Pthagorean angles don't
apply to trains cut loose
and mine right now, is how you say
someplace beyond "obtuse".

A case in point, at fifty-five
I though I knew some stuff
'bout high falutin' words and such
but I didn't know so much.

A guy I know the other day
used the word "iterate"
and I thought he forgot the "re"
but turns out it relates

To something that's a first attempt
a trial and error piece
like all my works of poetry
to say the very least.

So here let me reiterate
that I don't know so much
but, I do know "humility"
may be defined as such.

(lyrics and title by Jethro Tull and the Greatful Dead, respectively)

Beyond "obtuse"? In slant rhyme that is more like beyond the caboose!

Appreciated.

Great fun Doctor Doctor! Nice to read a poem about subject matter that is more different from the usual fare too.

Interesting fare, Doc. Can  a person who writes sick poetry be called ill-iterate in his attampts? Just askin'....

Alison,
Thanks, I'd say "see you  back in class"
