Oh, Eros, why are you so bittersweet,
As you repose in your golden sandbox,
You are arrogant and full of conceit,
For to you the world is your dreamy flock.
We seek you out and pay a homage call,
Asking you; Oh wicked one; give us amour.
You smile and nod and we are all enthralled,
And yet you send us into full-fledged war,
Eros! What are lovers' supposed to do,
We just want and need that special someone.
And take pleasure without your ballyhoo,
Is that so much to ask in the long run.
Why belabour me with your childish games?
You don’t even know me by my last name.

You bring smiles with this one, dear Jerry. Very nice conversation with Eros! A myth that enters indeed everyone's life.
I adore that sculpture of Eros and Psyche (Antonio Canova)... I also used it in one of my poems in the past.

Much enjoyed.

Love,
Margherita

Eros seems to get a little cheeky at time, and I feel the need to interject on love's behalf. Thank you, Margherita, always like your comments.

Dynomite!
My dear you do have a talent!
A lovely poem to ponder.
Does Eros know our last names?
And what happened to all that free love that was around back in the 1960's.
Any free love I ever found ended up costing quite a bit.
Loved the poem and the sculpture.

Haha!! Thank you, Duck, for that rousing comment. Last names? Who cares, right? I know we didn't care back in tha sixties. And you're correct about all that free love winding up costing us a hell of a lot. Thanks again for being here.
