I do not know him any more.

I do not know him any less.

The paper's faded, yellowing

no longer hidden in the mess

that testifies against my life.

I let a man beneath my skin--

no cure for that

but one sharp knife.

I'll just connect the dots on me

and hope the outcome stops the itch.

It's according to where the dots are connected. Just finished listening to Jethro Tull. I think we're all thick as a brick. As far as that itch, it takes some time to deal with that.

I'm sure this wasn't meant to be funny, and I'm sorry, but the way the last couple lines slipped in there tickled my funny bone.

I hope your itch goes away, but not that way.

Enjoyed this,

j.

You say it, dear Karen, we never know each other fully, we are different Universes, even if deeply connected ...

May the letting go be smooth.

Powerful message!

Love and hugs.

Karen...time changes all...it is good that is so.  How else would we grow?  Hugs!

I think I would rather connect the dots on him, Karen. Transfer some of that healing process. Seriously, I hope you heal and move on. Hugs to you.

First two lines are brilliant.  He's gone but I can't get rid of him.

You know what?  I know this feeling.  Six years of love that faded until there was nothing left.  No piece of paper involved but I still feel violated by my intimacy with a person who must now be a stranger.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, Karen, and I hope you find what you are looking for.

Thank you for sharing such a personal poem with us.  Write on some new paper.

Brian

love is such a huge emotion, really wrecks the brain as the tides of corrosive chemicals surge around the great wineglass of the skull (might use that image for inspiration myself).

Hope you feel better soon...

When I first starting reading this, I thought to myself...oh good, Dr. Seuss...and when I read the rest it was more like Dr. Seuss meets Dr. Love...sorry if I have trivialized your work, but I did enjoy it (your work, that is...not my trivialization) [smiling sheepishly]
