Her black eyes dance
as she recounts one of her many stories.
She watches closely to see how I react
as she pulls my chain...
just a little.
Well, that was quite a story
from a six year old's imagination.
She pauses for me to respond appropriately
and she begins again...
"Now, this is a true story."

I love this ... it reminds me of a little girl whom I miss dearly.  Thank you, Ida.

"You've heard of the British nation? The French nation? Well, this is the Imagi-nation!"

A lovely write.

Ida - A wonderful poetic excursion into the lost innocence of us all when there was no need to distinguish between fantasy and truth because both were just plain fun for the day. Much enjoyed this Ida. Makes you feel young again. Namyh

Ida, reminds me of my grandmother (passed in 1980) . . . she would say the same thing, and what stories she told!

Loved the read and memory it evoked.

thanks,

j.

Wonderful place, the young imagaination!
Perhaps we should listen more closely.
Nicely told.

Thank you all for such lovely comments. This is about my little great grandaughter,
Karina. She is quite the story teller. I'm hoping for a future writer instead of a politician (she bends the truth a little).

Delightful, dear Ida. Blessed childhood when fantasy flows free ... With you, dear Poetess, in her life, she will choose well and find the perfect combination of truth and creativity.
