The Eagle

*

What is it my heart
that you miss
when you roam the skies?

Is it the view
of the Eagle’s flight,
is it the sound
of his wings
as you listen deep?

Breathe my heart, breathe!
Create the currents
for him to soar
once more
high in the skies.

Then spread your own wings
align to his divine majesty
follow him
into immensity
and be free.

Yep, sometimes we just want to be as one with the majestic flying things. Freedom is just a wing flap away.

Margherita... Wonderful poem. I love to watch eagles fly so free. Thats why I chose an eagle as my icon here at PIP.
To me they seem like they are a protector of our nation, ready to defend us no matter what the cost...Paul

I wrote a Triolet once titled " The Eagle "

I feel the flight
reading your poem
where all boundaries erase

Thank you, dear Jerry, for your loving reply. We surely owe it to dreams of flying that men have developed and discovered the way to do it, even though with "machines" and not with our own wings, but that kind of flight is always possible ... in dreams.

Thank you, dear D., for your kind appreciation.

Dear Paul, thank you for your loving comment. I found your poem "The Eagle", as well as your "Spirit of the Eagle" in your collection, they are both absolutely beautiful!

Dear EmmaRose, I much enjoyed your reply. Thank you so much.

Love and have a beautiful week all,
Margherita

What could be batter than a poem that conveys such a wonderful feeling of freedom.
By the way my favorite poem is "The Eagle"
By Tennyson.

Thank you so much, dear Ida, for your loving comment and for your mentioning "The Eagle" by Tennyson. I googled it and found it indeed very impressive, wonderful imagery in a mere six lines! Wow.

I am off to the airport to receive my guests ... won't be around for the next days.

Wishing you all a wonderful time.

Love,
Margherita
