The plotters and killers of JFK,
Have lain low since that horrifying day.
In the public's eye, they were not exiled,
This mix of hoods and politicians guile.
The Grassy Knoll has never left our mind,
The Warren Report was cover-up time.
Even his brother let the lie be told,
Wasn't much later that he too was cold.
There have been a few attempts at the truth,
Some who asked about were very good sleuths.
When JFK was laid low by the gun,
My dad, that day, said LBJ had it done.

Yes, I remember too that sad day and the rumors about LBJ. I always wonder how they can actually hide the truth. There are too many secrets and scandals without solution. Rivalry in politics can be ferocious.

Well done.

Love,

I don't know how they can hide the truth, but it was hidden. Far too many things happened starting with the Secret Service who were hungover to be as sharp as they were supposed to be. And the list goes one. II do not believe Oswald shot that man. and the man who shot Oswald died suddenly of cancer or whatever after he pleaded with them to move him out of the Dallas jail, he said he was in danger there. Not two weeks later he was dead. and on and on like I said.

Thanks for commenting, Margherita.

I remember the day he was shot,I was in second grade. I agree with your suspicions.  But back in that day a lot more of that sort of thing happened. Back then the press was different too. I believe it still happens today...convenient suicides and stuff I don't buy.

Yeah, Lori, I was in Pasadena, California getting ready to go to work and I heard about it. No one got much work done that day. I think that the reason for the coverup and I am firm in believing there was one, was they thought the truth would send America into riots and the fallout from our enemies and friends alike would be very hard to live down. If a vice president actually did give the go ahead for the murder that is some third-world country stuff that would send the country into turmoil for decades.

The most simple thing to do a half century later is to let it drift steadily into mythology.  If you need personally to cut through the tangle, start with Occam's razor and keep what you find to yourself. You may find the endeavor troubling to your sleep.

The truth mostly is as plain as it will appear to be. It is a sad fact that there are times when truth can not set you free.  Soon we who wove our personal threads through that time will all be dead.  History really is written by the winners.

Reality is that it can not be undone and that was the real point. If you lived through that time, use any awarenesses to sift truth from lies in today's government and world affairs.  If you were born after that time, then it is merely another set of stories partially told by old folks.

I was twenty years old, Ice. Your comments are comparable to fables and are meant to be I think. I understand about that truth can destroy, and I fully believe that is the reason for the coverup. Except for this particular set of events, Ice, I am not a conspiracy theorists. I would, before I die, like to know the truth, however. There were photos, man, showing the back of his head blown off. A bullet fired from the Texas Book Depository would have had to have entered from the back. That would cause the front of his head to be blown off. That, and many other inconsistencies have gnawed on me since that time.

Like I said, I hear you about searching too eagerly for "truth," and I doubt it will make any difference because I'm sure I'll be long dead if, and when, it ever comes out.

I'd be suprised if that is true Jerry but then I've been wrong lots of times before.
Thought stimulating piece Jerry, well done.

JP2, I'm with you on this one, hoping, against the odds, that I will live so long as to know the truth.
I am of your "vintage" and remember the news quite vividly.  I happened to be on the military drill floor at the time, in competition. You can imagine what that did for straightening the spine and focusing the attention (we won, as I recall).  But what was next?  We organized a formal flag lowering guard for the mourning period.  I can still see it all, in full color, and still feel the shock of it.
The lasting effect of that event, for me, has been the lack of trust I since harbor for our political "leaders".  I am sure you understand how I come to that scepticism.
Maybe when all those involved are dead and all their children too, maybe then we will know.
Who would want the burden of keeping such secrets?

Yeah, I thank you, Krawdad, this has been gnawing at my stomach for the longest time, and i wasn't even a fan of JFK, although considering the crop of Democrats these days he was ultra conservative. Still, politics aside, the assassination of the president of the United States of America, and the amateur way of dealing with it has been working on my since it happened.

Thanks again for dropping by and lending your support.
