Lumpy oatmeal makes me crazy!

0 posted 2011-05-18 06:18 AM

Nights that I can't sleep
I might eat crispy salads
As a midnight snack

Diet Pepsi in hand
I turn on the computer
And try to write

While crunching pea pods
And tasting cool lettuce leaves
Wish I were tired

I try not to think
of that noisy alarm clock
buzzing in four hours

I tried counting sheep
But lost my place too often
And, darn, those sheep stunk

(stank?)

No one really cares
if they stank or stunk or stinked
You are all asleep

Some friends you are anyway

Love,
Alison

I don't sleep nights anymore
(having accepted that my nature
is the sort that loves to watch the sun rise
right before bed)

For a while, I rose with the chickens,
thinking that it was right and proper,
that 'I would get used to it' --
once I made it to about noon, I would get
past the feeling of being tortured.

But that alarm clock!  Oh, the violence I dreamed
of visiting upon that hateful instrument ...
glaring at me redly like some demon
at three am, when my mind wouldn't stop,

then howling with sadistic glee
a half hour after sleep finally claimed me
sending me blinking and muttering to the shower
plotting electronic murder.

No amount of coffee
Could ever make me a morning person.

Oh, sweet somnolent Alison, may the morning find you crisp and fragrant as I love to imagine you! This was a lovely bringer of smiles.

In your cold skies populated with candid sheep can any smells ever reach your nose?

Love you,
Margherita

Ain't dat da truff, Alison, everybody asleep while you were munching on rabbit food. It is a cruel world.

Well I just breathe deep and pray for sleep.
Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

Fun poem, even if you weren't exactly having fun yet.

Alison,
I think "morning people" are a myth promulgated by the military industrial complex in order to  make servants of us all. I say damn the clock and the torpedoes
and I'll eat fruit loops anytime I want,
and, just how do you know I was sleeping?

Capricious,

Loved your response.  Thank you for making me smile.

Alison

-

Margherita,

We are having warm days now in spring - up to 76 F today.  So, yes, those sheep can stick up a night.

Love,
Alison

-

Yep, JP, sucks to be me.

A

-

Jimmy,

All the sheep were up here - that's why there were none for you to smell, my friend.

Alison

-

Lori,

It was baaaaaad.  So baaaaad.

Alison

-

DS,

Sheep and laid -- now there's an image I want erased from my brain.  Honest.

A

-

Bruce,

I know.  It's such a pain, huh.

Alison

-

Yep, Blusey one, I do that breathing thing too ... but sometimes it just doesn't work out for me.

Alison

-

And damn that lumpy oatmeal, Doc.  I heard you snoring.

A
