When the first word is last, and the last word is first
A chiasmus has come into play in your verse
"What is that," one might say, "did you say that one might
turn all these words around, now that just isn't right"

So we go back and forth and we go forth and back
Ev'ry which way it seems 'til it's hard to keep track
If we're over our heads or we're heads over heels
When "chiasmus-ly" speaking that's just how it feels

Causing things to sound wise that might otherwise sound
Like a whole load of crap that some fool might expound
It's quite neat, really, how words can sound really neat
as Confucius might say, without missing a beat

"He who does speak in tongues many tongues does he speak,
keeping one at all times firmly placed in his cheek."

Margherita,
Thanks, I'm glad it brought you a smile.
When researching words or terms, if something catches my eye, I'll often try to work it into a poem as a mnemonic device to help me remember it's meaning. If I can do so humorously, so much the better.

Is this where X = chaos = X
with poetry in between?

I loved it!
