Old Debonair DuBois was a Cajun-loving man
Causing a smile on the face of his sweet wife, Anne,
But over and in and around Shashy Savoie's bog
Debonair DuBois rooted around like an oversexed hog.

Hell, cher, everybody knew that old Debonair
Was adept at undressing and getting the ladies bare,
A Cajun-loving man was he, although he had a spouse
She was so satisfied she stayed around the house.

Debonair DuBois just weren't the sort, we all knew
To be sated with one helping of sugar, he'd rather two,
He wasn't cheating, didn't think he was doing wrong
All night on the bayou in his pirogue he'd wail out a song.

I'm Debonair DuBois, the pirogue-paddling man
My woman's sleeping a satisfied sleep 'neath the fan
And I'm paddling my pirogue to a little sweetie I found
Around the bend of the bayou, her man's gone to town.

Hey, mon cher, if I were to lose my little sweetie
I know where's another gal even if she is too meaty,
But it's all right, I'm a Cajun-loving man for sure
Dem women all come to me for the DuBois cure.

Loving to live, living to love, you know that's me
Ah, come on over here, I'll bounce you on my knee
When the men done gone and left their women
I sneak around their nest and leave 'em with a grin.

Lawd I can't help the way that I am, a loving superstar
The little filles just love the shape and feel of my cigar
I love 'em all, the tiny, the fat, the redheads and blondes
Come one come all and watch how I weave my wand.

We all wondered about old Debonair DuBois and if
While busy going here and there would he get a sniff
That things really wasn't all that wonderful and serene
At his own homestead and Annie, his pretty Cajun queen.

It all came down last Friday night when he fell sick
And had to hurry back home ever so quick,
We laugh still at the screams and wails he fell into
Seeing the long line of men, at his door, forming a queue.

Debonair DuBois don't get around like he did any more
Stays home and tends to sweet Anne his swamp love,
He's wasted down to nothing, yes, all skin and bone
Trying, without success, to satisfy sweet Anne all alone

Nothing wrong with fidelity old-fashioned way of living, J. Thanks for chiming in . . .

Thank you Lori. Yep, the ending, payback is, well, you know . . .

Oh, I messed around with this poem for about a week I'd say, Dreamgal. Glad you liked it.

Another thanks, Marcia, for the comments. Happy you was happy with the ending. Heck, I had to do something to give old Debonair DuBois his comeuppance.
