Fair to middlin' of nowhere

Proud lines
Dobie distinctive
Sleek shiny
Black and brown
Distinguished
Dark eyes
Always on guard
Waiting…

For daddy
To come home
Dissolving his dignified
With belly rubs
Into puppy love
Like lickings

Oh, gorgeous!  Woof, woof, woof to the angel.  Is his name Dobie?  If not, what?

Please give him lots of kisses and hugs and belly rubs from his South African Auntie Di (the doggy, not his Daddy!).

My Benji is also black and brown with dark eyes.

Oh, I've got it, I've got it, I've got it!  I was expecting a poem about a crab as I opened it up - but the pincer means that your angel is a Doberman Pinscher - and of course, the Doby is referring to Doberman.  That would explain it.  My Benji-baby is a miniature Doberman Pinscher - hence the similarity of colour and eye-colour!

How could I have been so slow!  That took me a good 5 minutes to realise!  Duh!  Blush, blush!

So, now that I know his name is not Doby, please tell me what his name is.

Faith I'm glad you liked this one.

Owl thanks for correcting my spelling! Actually it is not my dog I just tried to think of the most dignified breed that would contrast by being all lovey with it's master. I think the Doberman is one of the most gorgeous breeds. Never had one though.

Lori, although I know you wouldn't have minded if I had been correcting the spelling, I actually thought you were playing with the word.  I love your poem.  Even if the dog is an imagined one, I still think he needs a name, (pretty please?).  Perhaps this is a sign that a Doberman Pinscher is going to find you - or perhaps the poem would drop a hint to your hubby!  Smiles.
