MONA LISA MOMENT
5 May 2011

Sitting at her favourite desk
she picked up her pen
and gazed motionless and unseeing
at the shelves of her most loved books,
and the sunlight played
on the secret smile
that was tiptoeing
over her lips
and into her eyes.

Magical. Again you permeate a moment in time with your perception of love and life's wonder.

Love,

Sounds to me like those "most loved books"  might be poetry books...
Was the "secret smile"  caused by knowing they were near? Did her eyes began to focus on visions that might become a poem, because of them?
This poem could mean many different things, but those thoughts came into my head as I read it,
And I did enjoy reading it...

hello diana,
I think like Marguerita, it is magical, a very delicate and subtle inspiration.

Karen, I am very honoured indeed by your words, especially as they are coming from such a lovely person as you.  Thank you, very much.

Ford, thank you for your beautiful reply and I am honoured by your interest in the poem.  Actually, I have many, many poetry books, but that wall of books in particular, is the French section of my library of well over 2000 books (at last count many books ago and many years ago, for insurance purposes).  The smile could well have been at the proximity of the books (I have an old poem, also written at that same desk – I have 6 desks, 4 of which are very ordinary office desks and were used when I was doing computer training - in which I refer to that feeling about the books), but, in this case, it wasn’t.  It could also have been the conception of a poem, too, but in this case it wasn’t.  It was actually about a short-lived happiness that existed then.

I enjoy wondering about my interpretation/s of other people’s poems, and also other people wondering about their interpretation/s of mine.  Thank you for enjoying the poem.

I am now drooling over the visual of two thousand books written in a language I can't read, and I don't care.

I am profoundly drawn and attracted to leather bindings.

That list of yours reads like my wishlist--but of course, I'd need to learn proper French.

Happy Mum's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to you too, Karen.  Not all 2000 are in French.  It is just one wall of my study that is mostly in French or about France or French literature.  Smiles.  Yes, I, too, love books and leather bindings.  I think French and Zulu are two of the most beautiful languages I have ever heard spoken, although there are many more that I find beautiful too.  Smiles.
