If he is dead I am happy
Why glorify such an evil man
by saying you are sorry
he is dead

Boggles the mind

Jerry,

I think truly what people are feeling is
Of course no one wants another human being to die, were just glad he can no longer hurt anyone. Were glad that that kind of inhumanity is stopped.

I'm not a praying man, but for that I'll say, Amen, James.

I don't know of anyone who has said they are sorry he is dead, with the exception of his followers.

Jerry, before I read this, I had read several other comments and commentary. I didn't know what I would find here...and I am truly sorry I didn't come earlier.

Globally, Politically, Personally, I am sorry that words could not have replaced action prior to 9-11-01.

Unitedly, I am very proud of our services and all of the factions that are upholding one and another.

As my husband inferred earlier this evening, he hopes that "all of the SEALS should receive a commendation" and I could not disagree.

I know this sound like an undone waffle...but here I am hoping that his predecessors won't bring more harm for the "cause" of this celebration, if you know what, and how I mean, this sentiment.

I don't believe it's over.

And I will continue to pray for those who set their lives before their government, and ahead of their politics. They are the Brave.

P.S. So everyone should now if you didn't before now about me? It's so very difficult to throw a stone. I know, because I've had many leveled at me...and for things I've never done.

I want justice, I also want humanity to rule...

tis a tough world out there, so ignore me as you will.

Of course it isn't over, Sunshine. It is never going to be over until we learn how to fight this war and not play games with our armed service men and women. We try to "play by the rules," when in fact, in war, there are no rules. Unfortunately, it is kill or be killed. I have no illusions about this evil man's death. There will be repercussions tried no doubt, but what are we supposed to do, let the bastard live because we are afraid of what will happen if we take him out? To live in fear is not living. Europe is a prime example of living in fear, and allowing the Muslims to actually affect the way they rule and parts of their laws. If anyone does not believe that there is World War III going on they are going to have a huge shock coming. If everything that has happened since the Twin Towers, and many things even before, doesn't bring them to their senses nothing will. All the "can't we all just get along and be humane to each other" is, unfortunately so much poppycock. It is never going to happen. Mankind can be generous, loving and wonderful people who are prone to stepping back when someone spits in their face, Next time he has to pick himself up off the ground because he's been knocked down. Each time things escalate until, finally, if the man doesn't retaliate in a way the offender can understand it will never stop.

I love you and where you are coming from Sunshine, but these are my thoughts.

I read what you wrote Owl. My God, do you really believe what you said? There are MANY women who are proud that bastard is dead as I am. You just hardly see them on the poetry sites. They are here too, but they tend to be silent.

Jerry,

I don't take exception to your poem.  I take exception to comments like this.
quote:
Thank you Lori and dreamgal, we are probably in the minority here.
quote:
Nobody else is saying anything, dreamgal, and that amounts to the same thing to me.
and the one about the silent being the first to be shot.  I don't feel a need to spew all my thoughts and opinions on a poetry board.  I have shared my thoughts with my family and friends that I sit down and have coffee with face to face.  Many people don't come on boards like PiP and share political thoughts.

Like Jimmy, I mourn lives lost.  I mourn innocence lost.  I mourn freedoms lost.  I am not sorry that Osama bin Laden is dead, but I won't celebrate his death or give it much thought.  I don't think he is worth my emotions.  Am I blind to world issues?  No.  I don't believe that I am.

Time will tell what the long-term results will come from his death.  I long for the end of the wars that we are part of.  I applaud the Navy Seals who did their job.  I wait to see what the future holds and I pray that we can continue to hold our country together.

Alison

Allison, I would not have said one word about all of this had not Owl put her apology on.
Still, I have my feeling, and it seems you have yours.

Jerry, everyone is entitled to their thoughts.

I'm glad we can appreciate one another in spite of our differences, as there are so many other things to be enjoyed together.
