Some wear their wings
some scurry by, crossing the
bridge on the green of
the newborn

some in their pinstripes, prancing
in unison, eyes on the backporch, daisies
in hand ,my mind shifts to fantasy
thinking they've gifted me
as they all come to dinner time

they end the obstuction of the view
of the tall trees,
spinning with sunsets and ripe
with the twilight, singing their
halfnotes, the carols of wretched ones
making me privy to the world
of their wanderlust

somehow they found me, on this
joint admiration, I digress to the tall trees
when their sight is a respite, to the
eyes of the jaded ones

is it mere hallucination
to infuse them with gratitude
dare they think of me otherwise
than the blonde with the bellyfood?

in the good grace of God, I often delude
that he sees me as windowless, that he
sent me these messengers, in the peak of
their winter plight as they etch
on their prints
in the surplus of snow tonight

it's now time to gather, and stiffle
these rantings, tossing the grub
of the day old spahetti, and burnt
tuna casserole

to this day of epiphany
brimming with lit moons and
leftover sour wine

as I'm lost in a mood
of the soul's insignificance

though they never say thank you
nor tip of their hats to me

in this hour of apathy
and the wars of the human folk

it is They who can reach me.

(Tribute to all His beautiful
creatures, may they always find me)

Beautifully done, and the picture you painted is etched inside of thought process and probably will for the rest of the day at least. Your "the leftover sour wine" line made me think of Melanie and her song. If you care to listen to it, go here . . . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEQzX4AO4X4

They inspired you profoundly, dear EmmaRose. Captivating work.

May you always be victorious over that mood and be aware of your soul's magnificence.

Thank you for enriching my vocabulary in English!

Love,
Margherita

Excellent free verse, each prosaic stanzas leading well into the next..
Emma, please remember that we men and women are also creatures, and perhaps should be included somewhere in the poem.
But maybe the poem does not call for inclusion...maybe the poems sublime mood does not call for it?

The creatures are honored to be in your company, but they do not know it.

Loved the poem

EmmaRose, this is beautiful.  I believe I understand completely how you feel.  I know they know, appreciate and love you far more than you realise.  I find animals so much easier to communicate with than humans.  I find too, that animals usually understand what I am saying, so much better than I understand what they are saying, though I think I understand them better than most humans do.
