Two Kawasakis rattle into the clearing.
The troop leader says, "Those bike's motors wear out fast."
Our little group is there for orienteering.
The riders---they're there to rest their bikes and get gassed.

A lovely early summer's day, with leafy trees
and gnats in warm sunshine, above the sodden trails---
We rest in shade, waiting for the touch of a breeze,
then with compasses and maps, down into the vales.

Such a lovely park, not so far from the city:
that's how I recall it now, with grass, trees, and streams.
Forests and dales with crude markers too-well hidden,
yet the singing woods themselves the stuff of kid's dreams.

Nowadays all this would be done with GPS.
Motorbikes could be better built---but I digress.

This is wonderful, dear Easy1. Brought back memories.

With GPS people are losing the ability to see with their own eyes where they are going, the sense of orientation is lost. It just recently happened here to a friend. As the usual street she took was closed for an accident, she drove home again to take the navigator because she was unable to find an alternative alone! It's like mental calculation versus calculators ... so many people are unable to do even the simpliest operations.

This was delightful, really.

Love,
Margherita

well penned, I enjoyed this very much. I randomly went to page 30, randomly picked a poem that only had 1 comment & it was this one - so pleased it was

So many things have changed.  And the change isn't over yet.  It will get worse.

Enjoyed the read!
