sometimes at night
I stare into the sky
stars so far away
it's still possible to see them
I try to zero into the
black, like road tar
space between the stars
I don't move a muscle
twitch an eyelid
fearing concentration will be lost
for I so want to embrace
the farthest
ink blot I possibly can
and,
as I stand, strangely, I know
gawping into the outermost
I receive something back
yes, yes I do
something accesses my mind
and
although I'm in awe
of this tingling feeling
I know not what it is
it is at that moment
the stars merge
ruining the effect
the moon
larger than I've ever seen it
pisses on my concentration
whatever it was
whoever it was
God?
little green men?
space monsters on the warpath to earth?

are gone
and I'm alone

Dear Jerry, I love this very much, as I am a stargazer too. I think you felt the oneness with All There is. Your core felt its belonging, the utter awe for the beauty of it.

An experiment to repeat no doubt.

Most beautiful.

Love,
Margherita

Yes, I know you are a stargazer, Margherita, and if I hadn't have known it your last poem would have clued me in. Thank you so much for being here.

What is that feeling when we look at the stars? That's a mystery... God? I think so. The stars are amazing. Thank you for this poem and making me recall the wonder of the stars.

Thanks Dawn. The wonder of stars is that they make us wonder. We have been to the moon, but the normal guy/gal still knows nothing about it. You would think we would have made another trip. Help ten more trips. Set up a Hooters there, or sumptin'.

Hi, Jerry.  I was looking at the stars one night when suddenly all the lights went out.  The stars literally jumped out at me. So beautiful.  I agree with Margherita and, no, you are not alone.  Enjoyed your write!

Jerry...love this look into your star gazing self. I think the night sky gives us a brief glimpse of infinity.

Aw, I know I'm not alone, Helen, I just put that there for poetical effect. Thank you so much for stopping by and reading my stuff.

Martie, you are absolutely correct about the infinity. Thanks . . .
