losers of life curtsy to covetousness
raw energy
not spent heralding positive thought
like a tarantula
grotesque and scary
living only to ridicule and resent

can't be himself
envious elf

style over substance
signals to his irrationality of life
possessed by darker stuff
feasting eyes on what others might have
screeching like a girl
volume turned all the way up to scorch

want what's mine
or he will whine

mental disorder
uncontrollable need for going beyond the pale
glides through life, mask of cold resentment
causing wretchedness
worse than a sad Muddy Waters' song
dripping self-imposed blues

want what you've got
thimble or yacht

horrendous anxiety
where pettiness laid on thick
neighbor acquires bucket of warm spit
he must have same
sits up all night working to that end
morning comes, he has two

see what he did
Heaven forbid

overwhelming entity feeds at his heart
constriction, like fish bones
claws his throat with resentful desire
braying hounds of fear not measuring up
creating foreseeable foofaraw
resentful litmus test

mine is better
mine is bigger

wives, if you have one
he must have many
two of which may even be his own
bubbling cauldron of beady-eyed resentfulness
taking one-upmanship to a fine art
easier to not draw the next breath than to not envy

hey! look at me
I have more, see

he wants prettier and shinier cars
he wants larger, superior house
he wants prettier, sexier wife
he wants your soul
he wants your first-born
he wants . . .

all that you own
he wants to clone

Too bad you're right about that.  There are those like that, good portrayal.

Whew!  Scary stuff, Jerry.  I really don't think I know anyone like that but I've no doubt they exist - with emphasis on the "exist" because they're surely not living.

interesting view JP...and a coat most anyone could wear at one time or another..or did..or will.  I traded mine for a rubber ducky years ago.

Thank you, Lori, you're correct, they are out there.

Helen, I'm happy you don't know anyone like thus, and yes, I upped the description of these people who envy what everybody else has got, but when it comes right down to it, not by all that much. 'Course that is just my opinion. Appreciate your input.

You are absolutely correct, DS, about most of us being able to wear the envy coat at certain times in my life. Thank for stopping by.

Envy...Hmmm....I've never really envied anything materialistic - I appreciate nice things but I don't despise the people who have them. I've only been truly envious- maybe 3 times in life(so far)
I really like this can't wait for the next one. Enjoyed.

Thanks, Trina. I've never been an envious person either, but the world is full of them. One of my brothers used to be.
