THEY ARE WAITING FOR YOU TO COME HOME
23  August 2009

Your life is rich and diverse,
no matter what you think.
Your animals only have you.
You are their entire world.

When you are angry at the human race,
or part of it, they think you are angry with them
and their loving eyes ache
and their hearts break.

If you neglect them, ignore them, hurt them,
under- or over-feed them, shout at them,
chain them up or abuse them in any way,
they forgive you and shower you
with unconditional love.

You think you know what love is?
For a complete answer, ask the nearest dog
or cat or horse or rabbit or tortoise.

Whatever they do while you are out,
it is only to pass the time
until you come home.

Make their eyes radiate with happiness always
and fill their hearts to overflowing.
Truly love them, adore them,
understand them, spend time with them,
talk to them, listen when they talk back,
care for them, cuddle them,
make sure they always have the right food,
water, grooming and health care,
buy toys for them, share games with them,
understand their need for love and validation,
look forward to seeing them when you get home
and give them the welcome they deserve.

Make them as important to you
as you are to them.
When you can do all that and more,
not because I say so,
or because you think it is a good idea,
but because you really love doing so,
you will be worthy of them
and worthy of yourself.

Giggles, Dark.  Yes, it seems you are decidedly worthy of your precious bear and mountain lion sweetie-pies.  Please give them all a hug from me.  Smiles at you all.

Ok, before going to reply to you here, I went to give a loooooooooooong hug to Zelda. I knelt down embracing her on the chair, till my knees hurt, but she was so happy purring purring ... and of course we also had a conversation. I promised I would play with her as soon as she would want to. She will want to play no doubt towards midnight ... but a promise is a promise!

Beautiful work and a wonderful reminder, dear Owl.

Love,
Margherita

See the nail? You hit it on the head...

my little guys seem sad to watch me leave in the morning, but not before showering them with love and attention and a treat...

and when I get home, there they are! They "may" have been dad's dogs during the day, but they're my guys at night.

Heck, even the fish I take care of at work seems to appreciate feeding time! And if I wear bright nail polish, the little Betta and I have a sparring session!

I believe Heaven was meant for animals...we humans just get lucky if we're invited...

Margherita and Karilea, I just LOVE your replies.  I know what wonderful mothers you are to Zelda (Margherita) and Poe and Twain (Karilea).

Margherita, I love your interaction with Zelda before replying, the precious cuddly kitty cat – and now don’t you go and forget your promise to her!  Please give her hugs and kisses and cuddles from Auntie Di.

Karilea, I am glad Poe and Twain have Dad during the day, and delighted they have you in the evening – and that you have them!  And I am glad the fish and you have each other at work!  And I REALLY LOVE your last line!  What a lovely thought!  Please give Poe and Twain hugs and kisses and cuddles from Auntie Di too.

Some day the world will evolve enough that animals will be treated with the  kindness and respect that they deserve by all. Someday.

Diana...I've been leaving some good animal links in Announcements. You might enjoy them when you have time. Seems I post them with you in mind!

That would be lovely, wouldn't it, Ida.  I do hope so.

Thank you Karilea.  I am drowning in work - on top of which I am helping my son with telephone canvassing for 2-3 hours every evening after work as he has been elected (after 3 levels of long and gruelling interviews and tests) to be the candidate for the Democratic Alliance party in a neighbouring ward.  However, I will try to find some time to go and look at them - if not now, after the elections.  I will definitely see them at some stage!

And Alison, I hear your voice loud and clear too, girlfriend.  Smiles and thanks for your reply, supportive to all animals.  Please hug all 5 of your darling doggies for me and tell them that their Auntie Di adores them.
