THE LETTER
22 April 2011

Waiting for the letter
was not disquieting.
She was patient
for she knew it
would arrive
one day
and planted flowers
while she waited . . .

Days, weeks, years passed
and the flower garden grew and grew
and the colours lit up her eyes
as she tended it with care
and still she smiled a secret smile
all the while, all the while
feeling his hand lightly on her shoulder
and the letter in the mail.

Ah, pensive is the name of this one, Owl. Reminds me of an old Carol Burnett skit where she sits on a porch swing and waits for her lover to come back, but of course, he never does.

To wait for something tangible from someone who has gone away, and may or may not return, causing a hard knot to come in your throat. Excellent writing.

Wonderfully trusting attitude, dear Owl. Tending to the flowers and tending to hope in the same time is a choice of wisdom.

Love,

Well, flowers are beautiful and you don't have to wash their socks. I know... go ahead and let me have it.

Nope, Ida, I am not going to let you have it!  I couldn’t agree with you more!  It is just a nostalgic fantasy poem moment.  I don’t have to wash anyone’s socks and have no intention of doing so either!  Beeeeeg smiles.

Thank you, Yann for you beautiful kind words.  Smiles.
