we had the windows down along lakeview drive
and your black car was way too hot inside
when we were both watching afternoons
and the garden lady in her little jeep
that kept glancing over toward our whispering

and you wondered if she knew how close she was
to being part of our eventual discussions
about voyeurs and the blackbirds that lingered
like they thought they could learn something
just by watching and listening to our wanting sounds

you changed the station then and sipped some water
said you needed to refill your bottle soon
since I just kept making you more thirsty
and you knew I should be famished by now too
but maybe I was a part time demon you said

that was used to the heat that you brought
and maybe this was more heaven to me than hell
then you waited for affirmation which followed
and said thank you for just being handy sometimes
when you wanted to trade places with yourself

and meet me here for some more sinseared resolutions
