~*~

I never wanted more than you gave
for we wouldn't have been what we became
even if we'd had the chance.
You remain a bright sparkle encased in velvet
set deep in my heart.

I found solace in the free reign
and took refuge when the thunder clapped
breaking through the clouds
caught up in a jet stream
you made the heavens glow.

You are the whole of a lightning storm
striking me;
arranging the pieces of my heart
quieting my fears
that once tormented me in my darkest hour.

Even now I waver in the moment
and the residue left behind,
like the calm that lingers after a storm
and the silent pitter patter
hangs in the breeze.

The sun promises so much
but if it doesn't shine tomorrow
I will always feel you next to me
when I'm teetering beside myself,
rising with the tide
between heaven and earth
holding you there
warm to the touch.

You fill the hollow sound
echoing in my private chambers,
you are the rhythm to the songs I sing
the last dance and mis-step
playing me in the wind
waltzing outside in the rain
the one who moves me.

Yet I'm not cold or unsung without you
you're my mercury rising to some degree
and I've taken care to arrange you in keeping
in that place where you've touched me so deeply.

You're the warming trend I wrote of in the beginning.
Since then I've learned to adjust to the changing temperatures,
tucking you in beside me.

With a quiet understanding
and an ounce of grace
I realize there is no predicting the forecast
for love is a fickle one
and our fate is it's own meter reading.

I've never read such a loving poem in my life.

Ah Bluesie...

Loss is peculiar and particular
and oh so personal...

but to share loss...is especial...
and between us? We do it because it

Oh, dear Bluesy gal, this is fantastic and the fact that I'm pretty tearful now is besides the point.  You have written an absolute gem and one to be admired by many - and taken to heart and felt - well, maybe not as much as I'm feeling it at the moment because it plays havoc with the eyes but I sure would feel sorry for them if they didn't feel it.

Lovely, Lori, simply lovely!

You have such a way with words of Love.
A light tender touch, but so powerful on the reader's heart. Much enjoyed

You must have been reading my life, for you expressed it so perfectly.

This is truly one of your best writes.
