How fondly the remembrances of
a little boy in a suit and white shirt
the adored older brother to
two tiny girls in white starched pinafores
little straw hats with pink ribbons trailing
all carrying Easter baskets filled to overflowing
and faces in awe of the pageantry
the symbolic flowers overflowing the altar
the hymns like angels singing.

Reminiscing...
reliving the Easter egg hunts
the joyful hollering and “I got more
than you did.” Pristine white giving way to
chocolate bunny smears and grass stains.
Looking back it all seems like just yesterday.

Later, a full house of laughter and hugs
platters and plates piled high
roasted lamb, ham, a brisket of beef for
Uncle Joe. Bowls filled to overflowing
with all the trimmings
the traditional cakes and pies
the camaraderie of family and friends
the inevitable tummy aches
from too much candy.
and the memories live
on, and on, and on.

What exquisite and precious memories to offer balm to trials and tribulations and heart aches, Marcia - and so beautifully woven, as always, into a tapestry for all time!

Nice thoughts to another time and place. Very enjoyable and brought back a memory or two of mine. It also made me think about what the town of Seattle has done. They renamed Easter Eggs to Spring Spheres. Shame on them, but hooray for you and this lovely poem for the occasion.

I just HATE it when I comment and it doesn't show up on the site I commented on. I suppose when I hit the submit on this one the original will appear.
