ÒGo to sleep little oneÓ
He whispered in her ear

They sat between the moon and the cabin

Her ring was adjacent to his palm
With her bangs
Flattering the wind

They could lose only their hearts
For their souls were sold to
The fate of the fire

It was stronger than her leather strapped jacket
For I walked too far not to see this
They were the fields of the west
Where the souls of the highway
Could see their eyes meet

Their hands once reasons of the past
Now became presents to one another

She was losing herself under his chin
Losing the smell of her perfume
To the shallow night
I think her hands might be his forever

I think her light skin
Might seem to cave his thoughts
Might begin to understand his reasoning
For why they sat amongst the towns bright lights

She might begin to see his eyes
Could fill her soul
Like a white stallion horse
Galloping as the wind set north

She might begin to sleep again
Forget her thoughts
As the days become nights
Her feet could tangle with his again

They could fall under the heart
Of their Sangria wine
Sip by sip
Until her hands clasped with his

Until the shadow of the moon
Bounced off their necks
With their lips locking between the midnight star.

a lovely write with this superb ending:

"Until the shadow of the moon
Bounced off their necks
With their lips locking between the midnight star."

...now that's fine writing!
