Spirit of The Owl

Winter's glen
gray dawn skies
no sun up in
early morn
heaven sighs

down the lane
tree lined but bare
mysteries unfold
you didn't know
were there

snow and ice
crunch underfoot
walking quiet is
impossible
trip on root

hidden in the deepest recesses of here and then
sleeps the spirit of the Owl, answering 'who' at when
a discord settles within to break his sleep
and from the recesses of his darkness deep
the spirit comes, and the Owl then keeps

the secret of all time, held in feathered wing
and in the most silenced of plume, sweeps off
no effort in movement, feathers outstretched
through naked limbs, through the breech
no sound, no blare, in feathered wing

silence overall, no hint of gray ghost on high
was it just a vision, or a spirit in the sky
silently it sat, as quietly was swept away
spirits come to the land in the early morn
while the eve still sleeps, before day is born

snow and ice
crunch underfoot
walking quiet is
impossible
trip on root

down the lane
tree lined but bare
mysteries unfold
you didn't know
were there

winter's glen
gray dawn skies
no sun up in
early morn
heaven sighs

I don't remember ever seeing this one my friend (and I believe I was around back then), but like all of yours I have seen I love it.

You're a pleasure to read.

Absolute great poetry. I'll be hearing snow crunching underfoot for the rest of the night. Love that sound anyway. Sunshine, you have brought visions of ghosts and feathered wing to life in this astonishing piece of writing.

You have to love this. If you don't, then you lack appreciation of fine poetry.

BRAVO Sunshine!

Namaste,

To all who replied, thank you, blessed poets.

To OWL...I miss our conversations - I've learned much from you; I miss you. You're very welcome and I am pleased that you had a moment on line to smile.
