Die A Slow Death

Breakfast –
uh-mmm, where’s my double sausage and biscuit?

Lunch –
you want me to eat what??

Dinner -
. . . aw, you know who you are
and how it goes,
meal after snack after meal.
Crave this, must eat that –
don’t touch me,
don’t talk to me,
I don’t even want to smell you!

The doctor said, “you’re Type II Diabetic”,
Lose weight,
lower your cholesterol,
less salt,
less food,
Die A Slow Death!

Oh, and exercise!

So, back to the top.

Did that . . . and that –
lost weight,
got all the blood-thingys
under control.
Doctor was happy –
I was miserable,
then came Thanksgiving,
Wow! What a sacrifice!

But I did it!

Maintained all the blood-thingys!
Kept everything under control!

Almost . . . died.
Of envy, of want, of hunger –
I’m sorry, loads of water,
even the green-leafy kind
does absolutely nothing for –
S A T I S F A C T I O N!

But all my blood-thingys loved me
(Warm fuzzies all around).
They happily swam around in the
lack of need, desire, fulfillment, and,
and happiness.

All my blood-thingys loved me!

And then Christmas Holidays came –

I rebelled!  I fought!
I lived!!!

My blood-thingys went nuts –
I went giddy, happy, warm all over,
in Love Again, with EATING!

New Year - Oops!
Starting from scratch is horrible.
All the ground gained, is gone.
All the indicators say –

I’m dying.
A slow death.
Miserable, craving, hungry, dissatisfied,

But all my blood-things love me. Sorta.
And my doctor . . .

Screw him!

Oh, Jimmy, this is formidable! I can so totally relate, that I could have written this. How frustrating it is when we, who love eating, can't eat certain things anymore. We need satisfaction and must go find it elsewhere.

Probably you are not writing about yourself, but whoever it is, recognizes him- or herself most certainly in your tragicomic well written poem.

Ok, I decided "no chocolate today, but lots of water to fill the stomach" ... I am craving chocolate though and I am not sure if I can resist.

Thank you for this!

Love and joy!

Okay, tomorrow is national "Drink Water with Jimmy" Day!  We'll swim together and never sink!   Good poem.  I think we all can relate ... and on to the green things!

Smiling at you...even my good doc agrees...
if you're going to be miserable, why live?
I agree...but still, everything in moderation,
Hey Jimmy?
