She always had this
vacant far away look
about her.
As if she was lost
in a world, only she
occupied.
A kind of fear and
isolation always surrended
her, alone and sad
like an animal that was
kicked enough times that
she shut herself off from
the world, to protect
herself.
I tried to break thru
the wall she had built,
but I could never seem
to penetrate it.
Neither Love, nor any
human compassion would
reach her and thru many attempts
of befriending her, I
gave up and let her go....
I often stop and think
about that girl,
the one back in high
school, who stirred
something in me,that I
never really knew was there,
sure I was caring and cared about
my fellow man.
But this was different,
I wanted to really make
a difference in someones
life, and I tried harder
than I ever thought I could
or would for that matter.
And to this day, I stop
sometimes and think about
the gift she didnt know she
gave me, the gift of getting
out of my own way, to try and
make a difference for some
one else, someone who noone
would dare talk to in school,
she was an "outsider" an
odd duck, but to me she wasnt
She was a human being, with
a heart and soul, just like
anyone else who deserved a
chance to be loved and respected.
I hope in some small way I achieved
that, that maybe somewhere, she
remembers me too....

Well, dear dreamgal, this is simply awesome. God bless you for your desire to make a difference and you do ... I have no doubt about that.

Will read it again, it feels so good to touch upon your heart.

Love,
