Midnight Journey
By Paul Wilson

The night was mysteriously quiet
with a chilling frost in the air
Slowly thru a thin vale of fog
I saw something moving… I swear

Drifting thru time where no ones been
a sliver of light all I see
Do I dare follow this strange light
not knowing where it will lead me

Shadows are drifting in and out
of the fog… like clouds in the sky
I hear voices from everywhere
calling…calling but know not why

Then a group of people appear
taunting me as they soar in flight
The forest came ablaze in fire
as the darkness gave way to light

I tried to run away from them
but menacingly they followed
A thick shroud of fog covered me
rising up from ground so hollowed

Searching for a way back to where
I was before this strange…strange night
Walking in circles round and round
then I was lifted up in flight

Above the fog and haze I saw
the way to where I was before
This strange journey I had taken
I’ll remember forevermore

Wow, dear Paul, you have written a very intriguing poem here! At midnight begins the hour of the ghosts and I think you have had your very own peak into that mysterious dimension.

It is wonderful to have you back, you know, I wondered about your long absence.

This is great work, I very much enjoyed the journey!

Love,
Margherita

"then I was lifted up in flight"

I love when that happens. It makes me feel all tingly.

You did good, Paullie. I knew you would.

faithmairee...Glad you took time to read and so glad you liked my little journey. I'm still trying to knock of the rust from not writting in almost a year. Thanks again...Paul

You really capture the feel of another dimension, and I felt my skin prickle as I thought about aura of fear and uncertainty.  Your rhyme is impeccable, and I enjoyed reading, although, I do think I will skip visiting that place in my dreams.     Karen

I think it's great that you were honoured with such a midnight journey.  All seems pretty real to me.  Thanks for taking us along with you so descriptively.  Look forward to reading more now that you've been given a push.

Dear Paul,

your poem holds that mystique, like lifting the vale of clairvoyance... very intriguing!

Like Night needs Day
Good needs Evil
I need you to be complete...

I'm with Alison on this one.  An edge of your chair read, looking for an exit.

Excellent story!

Enjoyed.

Michael...Good to hear from you. This was from a few months back, when I was trying to stir my muse from hibernation. Seems he only woke up for a few minutes, then went back to sleep. Good luck finding your muse and if you see mine send him home. Thanks for the read & reply...Paul
