A man's hands in a woman's hair
the dimple born of a smile
a rainy day quilt when the sun is nowhere
flowers strewn in a country church aisle

The crooned lullabye for a baby in arms
in the rocker where grandma once sat
origami colors and paper bird charms
late afternoon's purr...and the cat

Tears welling rainbows, a violet start
dream-wishing on angels and wings
melodies haunting my heart of heart
soapsuds and earth's sundry things

The ancient of days' mysterious ways
laughter's sweet mischief and eyes
color breathing life into grays
impromtu soft words to the wise

Love letters closed with sealing wax
scented, and tender sweet lips
memories slow danced to a sultry sax
trysts where summer still slips

When yellow mellows the harvest moon
and  October gives way to November
cries goodbye with winter lake's loon
I shall swing on a star....and remember.

WoW! Uh, double WoW! This piece has so much "meat" inside the lines there is enough grist for twenty more poems. Thanks for the very good read.

A joy to read an offering from you, after some time, dear Karen.

Such beautiful imagery and atmosphere in this wonderful poem.

I love reflecting list poems and the memories that come with them.
You just did a marvelous job with this and the images are so vivid.

I'm glad November is a long way away yet and glad you're back Klassy!

Lori, thank you for stopping to read.

~~~
Jerry, you put a smile on my face with your hearty enthusiasm.  It's always a pleasure to feel the warmth.  Thank you, too.
~~~
Margherita,  I have missed being here to share the poetry and friendship a great deal. I've been a bit under the weather.  Thank you for the welcome back.  Big hug to you!

~~~
Eric, HI!  It's good to be here.  I appreciate the gentle appraisal, and love the smile!     This poem was actually about what poetry means to me, enigmatic as that may seem. Some moments define everything worthy of the "letter."
~~~

Blues, what a surprise it was to read your poem this morning.  I felt very connected to the sentiment, as if we had almost collaborated in our thoughts.  heheh.  Thank you, for sharing them!  ~K

Not Pandora's negative box, but Karen's Treasure Trove.  Don't leave it in the attic where you don't go too often.  Keep it where you have ready access to it, to take out each beautiful memory and savour its significance slowly and with delight, whenever you want - and hopefully share with us again and again and again in this and other such exquisite poems.

Amaryllis, Thank you for coming to share!

Owl, I know we all have a treasure trove of the heart in moments,dreams, and memories that become part of who we are, but it is alway lovely to hear it in the special way you have about you.   I'm glad you read and enjoyed a sampling of mine!  ~Karen

Absolutely beautiful!  Your "few other things" are wonderfully put to words and when I grow up ... yes, I wanna write like you.     Maybe next lifetime.  Thank you for a truly awesome write.

Alison     Thank you.  Love that you came to visit me!

Honeybunch:  I'm laughing now, with a heartfelt smile, especially since I've thought the same about you.  Can we just stay not so grown up?  I enjoy your poems very much, and feel a kinship with your thoughts often. It's good to know you enjoyed the read!

Karen - Am smiling now myself at your reply.  I slid backwards some time ago and haven't yet caught up with my biological age.  Not sure if it will happen any time soon so, yes, I will join the club of the not so grown up.  See you there!

I wonder if this will post, but thank you Jo.  Memories and golden dreams ... it's sort of like decorating a Christmas tree with ornaments you are fond of. Every now and then, something else catches the corner of your heart and you store it away for posterity.

Ida, Speaking of life things, a rare thing  has happened.  My rhododendron in the front yard is covered with buds....and it's mid-November.  The weather has been in the 30's at night.  It makes me smile, even though I know it will probably freeze before any of them open.

Thank you for reading my poem.  ~K

Ali and Suthern, It's a week for delights with Thanksgiving for family and friends.  You, Beautiful Hearts, make me smile, a second time around!     I can't think of anything better that family and friends to warm my thoughts.
