The air is still this morn
as if God forgot to breathe
the breath of life to living things
like me in my despair.

It's silent too like hurt and fear
and worry that invades my faith
and, yes, it's like my love of you
dispossessed of speech.

But there are birds a-twitter
in this air that doesn't move
and they are made, you know they are,
to enliven the forgetful.

So here we are both God and me
breathing now in harmony
but I know we're on a see-saw
taking turns at different views.

Forgetful, yes, forgetful,
we forget to breathe
when on a see-saw up and down
between despair and ecstasy!

Dear Helen, BRAVA!!

I just got goosebumps reading this wonderful piece of poetry.

It is in fact a keeper. It's all in the breath indeed! Harmonizing our breath with God's breath is the secret of living to the fullest and it requires the consciousness you show to possess.

Wonderful!

Love and hugs.

Before closing my computer, I just wanted to read this once again, so that I don't forget to synchronize my breath with God's breath ...

I can relate to this on a humid, no wind morning I have awakened to this morning. Putting you and God in sync insofar as breathing in, breathing out is a good way to deal with the stuffiness of certain days. It's as if He is helping you, each taking turns at the moment. Nice work here.

Hi, Honey. I totally concur with Maga Margherita's response.

May the see-saw of life weigh heavily on the ecstasy side for you, my friend.

Warm hug,
Linda

Thank you, Jerry.  If it wasn't for the knowing of "help" it would be hard to live through some of the days we are presented with. We forget though and suffer more than we should.  What is wrong with us?

Linda!  Gosh, you've made my day by being here.  Well, the word "ecstasy" might be a bit stronger than I intended but then again so is "despair".

Love

This is so true and beautifully put. You verbalize the ying-yangedness we all struggle with and make it so easy to see the blessing in all of it. You are inspirational as you share your struggles.
Bless your heart!

Thank you so much, Lori.  So much beauty on the edge of a struggle, isn't there?  Glad I'm not short-sighted.

And as you bless my heart, so is yours blessed.

Oh this is a painful beauty....deep breath!

You expressed so much emotion with a bittersweetness that only you can write.

One of your very best, Helen dear~

Nicely done Helen!

Concise but very creative with meaning.
Guess we're all caught between ecstasy and despair because of this imperfect life we lead.

Loved it!

Thank you all so much for your comments.  It's a special type of breathing that enables harmony but, as Eric says, we live in an imperfect world.  Nothing is going to change that so, yes, I forget to breathe - still remember though when I did. And I know that doesn't make much sense.
