a bowl of soup
a thin mattress to lie on
a woman's smile
a tenuous touch of a breast
a sip of red wine
a mark on your mouth from its nectar
a laugh at nothing
a soft sigh, remembering
a dogs cold, wet nose
a friend until the very end
a drop of rain
a race to the nearest shelter
a host of memories
a treasure chest of proof
a newspaper item
a school chum died so young
a year passes by
a joy you feel at still being alive
a sweetness of life
a caring about the here and now
a bowl of soup
a thin mattress to lie on

...these are a few of my favorite things....
Jerry I think you got it, keeping it simple and enjoying what you have/had. I envied your contented state.

Yep, Lori, with time comes the things we all ignore and take for granted, the simple things which make us who we are. Thank you for being here.

Word Weaver, I am happy that you found my effort pleasing, and thank you also.

So happy to see that you liked my poem, Blues, I appreciate you stopping by, reading and commenting.

Not likely to forget those, Spiros, they are our recorders of history.

Haha! Yeah, sometimes the soup is more like a steaming bowl of chowder, huh, steavenr? Appreciate your input.
