ICE STORM

Spring argued with Winter
She said he'd been too cruel
He was glacial
For it was not yet her turn to rule

Spring desperately wanted to bloom
But Winter wouldn't release his hold
She tried to cajole and beguile him
But he was nothing but cold

She tried raining warm tears
To melt his heart of ice and snow
But Winter was not amused
And furiously whipped up a frosty blow

He crystallized each drop as it fell
And encased the land in ice
Spring was frozen out once more
As Winter still gripped us in his vise

Spring marveled at the beauty
That her tears had brought
A magical world in sparkling crystal
Realizing her efforts were not for naught

Snow banks were glistening icebergs
With ice sculptures of every bush and tree
Each branch shimmered with diamonds
It was glorious to see

Birch trees bowed to Winters splendor
Their branches so burdened with crystalline jewels
So Spring patiently waited for Winters melt
To bring forth the flowering green when she rules

To live is to love
To love is to live

Kat-This is really wonderful!  So unique and cleverly written!  I love it!

There must be a poem in here somewhere.

Thanks Faith, I was inspired by an ice storm that made the Birch trees bend from the weight of ice that covered it.
