Sitting silently I watch
the fog drift by my window
and hear the surf pounding onshore.
It’s a night for gazing into the fire
and idling the time away.
My book, face down on the table,
tempting me not quite enough.
One of your favorite compositions
plays softly in the background
and suddenly I hear you.
Your steps upon the sand are hesitant
and as faint as a bird’s breath
but heard and recognized.
Through the haze
I see you pause,
gaze towards my window,
hesitate, and then disappear.
Hastening to call you back
I find no footprints
in the soft cold sand.

Excellent poetry. What the mind can do to us when we are lonely and wishful can sometimes be very good, but turns into hard reality eventually. I may not have said that exactly how I feel at the moment, but I loved this poem.

~ Saved faster than you can say "ethereal". My word, that was one fine piece of spine-tingling writing with a feather's touch! Fine imagery!

This is hauntingly beautiful.  I love how you ended it.  Great poem!

There must be a poem in here somewhere.

The connection goes on and you confirm it in this magnetic write.

In the quietness our perceptivity increases.

Very beautiful.

Just read 8 or so pieces by you - first time I've read Anything by you, my friend. Will not be my last.  Love the touch you have with words.
