I use to collect
acorns, rocks and
nature in my backpack.
Each day I would
daydream and something
would
caught my eyes
smooth rocks, shaped
and dusty. Acorns big
as a thumb with caps
or none at all. Or flowers
and leaves of different
shades. Some fresh, some
dead. I enjoyed
such treasures, still
do. Yet when I see them
now its hard to pick
them up for the world
stares and judge. Or if
I have the courage,
my friend would kick
it. Letting it cross
the parking lot, only
to decide to kick it
or to place it
in my backpack. I not
being myself kick it
with the laughter of
my friends, yet so much
discourage of my
action.

Ken, if it helps?

I still collect leaves, rocks, and feathers.

Because...I can!

Enjoyed!

I still enjoy collecting the "simple" things. I especially love the "helicopter" seeds... (maple maybe?)

I love to see things of nature and leave them where they are, mainly to serve the purpose they are there for, and secondly for others to enjoy.

Ken, you should come see my collection of stones, and dead seedpods! I even transplanted weeds into a little patch because you know, weeds are really flowers that no one appreciates.  On my window sill I have a figure arranged from different shaped stones and in a pretty little bowl all the stones I collected on a beach in Washington State. I enjoyed your kicking stones around and flipping them into the backpack. latearrival
