He asked me out of the clear blue
"what do you think about today?"
Hard to answer, I had no clue
because it's simply in the way.

I long deeply for tomorrow
and will until he's home,
today just sings its sorrow
and I use it to write a poem.

And if I knew much about guitar
I'd probably compose a tune
and play it loud, it'd go far
enough to reach the afternoon.

So I hook up with James Taylor
"oh, it's enough to be on your way"
harmonizing with the jailer
till the tomorrow I want becomes today.

Janis Joplin said that she didn't write songs--she just made 'em up.

Methinks you write the blues, too.

(and rock a bye sweet baby James)

um, yeah, I noticed. *chuckle*

I go on musical kicks too.

I want you to know something, lovie.

Mardi Gras can be such a spasm of frivolity, it produces a very painful moment of clarity.

(I finally found a therapist within walking distance.)

*no wink*

It ain't therapy if you have to bum a ride...

You've got a groovy thing going, dixie-dear.

Oh, yes, Dixie, I know about those tomorrow's that we want to be today's but we really do only have the now.  I'm trying hard to be consciously in the present moment but the mind is so hard to control.

Enjoyed your musings.

There's deep meaning with underlining heartache in this well written poem. As Annie said, "Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love you tomorrow, you're only a day away."

Nothing is within walking distance around these parts. I suppose I'll have to move eventually, if they don't come take me away first LOL

thanks to all who read and replied...so much enjoyed your comments!

THIS is an amazing poem, P.S. When you sat down to compose this you had all of your synapses firing bulls-eye hits. What a wonderful tale you wove as first you thought to be lonely.
