Tom says I can't make it
Can't make the river run anymore

Can't shape the mountains in the west
To my liking
And Tom may be right
But the soles of his feet are a bit uneven
His beard a bit mangled for my liking

See, tom doesn't know what I know
That I can fill the canyons with life
With their bottomless pit
That I see the storm unleash
Before the trees can warn their branches

But, Tom doesn't understand
Nor should he,
For a man that walks with his head held high
Well, he can achieve what the skyline cannot
He can achieve the highest ground
But only with the help of those around him.

We are our own shadow, I guess.

Dunno why this sat here so lonesome. I love a conversational tone, and if Tom is against that style, he can kiss me arse.

I liked this very much--as there is this hint of resignation coupled with determination that is inspiring.

Thanks for sharing.

there's a sense of majesty in this write...perhaps I am reading to much into it, but is Tom the 'doubting Thomas' in all of us?

Serenity and Steve, thanks for the kind comments.

Steve, yes, that little voice of doubt that creeps in every so often.  Take care
