Fair to middlin' of nowhere

0 posted 2011-02-26 12:22 PM

In my wistful whimsy
I wander about myself
wondering....
I wander back over
where I've been
and wonder
where I went...
Left behind
in bits and pieces
Little tatters,
forgottens
and torns
trails of tears
over the years
And I wonder where
accumulations of
unnecessary clutter
clinging to me
came from

I think those pieces left behind are like Hansel and Gretel's bread crumbs.  They are markers so you can always find your way back to where you want to be. And the clutter?  Well, clutter is built upon things we love that we simply can't stand to part with.  Right?  Love this, Lori.

Lori, it is good to wonder - and I am SO glad you did, because otherwise we wouldn't have been enriched by your poem.  All those little bits and pieces, as Alison so beautifully put it, are part of you, and they look good on you, so think hard before you discard any of them.

You're into your alliteration
when you wonder where you've
wandered...
which is wonderful...well done!

Sunshine-thanks for noticing I use some poetic devices even if punctuation isn't one of them

fine and effective expression of what most of us eventually
come to wonder amid the "Runaway American Dream!"

Don't we all?

Love the way your thoughts flow down the page in this poem Lori.
I think Alison's right, leaves a trail back to ourself, where we need to be sometimes.

Really enjoyable read!

Hah! Those "accumulations of / unnecessary clutter / clinging to me / came from" becomes heavier as the years accumulate, Lori. They never seem to completely go away.

This was contemplative in its look both in life past and future.
I liked its vision

it's so nice to finally realize you've got too much weight and to get rid of it for good!

I see much of myself in your poetry.

Sometimes I think of myself as a patchwork quilt! All the little pieces are snippets of where I've been, what I've done, my interests, my loves... They are all part and parcel of me.
I adore your poem! All those bits and pieces added together make one fine poetic!
