momma j went to her planting field today
stacked a couple of elevens back to back
best hand she could hold at the time

but she went off to jesus land more wealthy
knew the prophets by all their first names
and better yet, god spoke of her often

we said our goodbyes between sipping times
when she wanted milk more than chamomile tea
said it was the more soothing poison to swallow

and she missed the soft eye cows back in iowa
that used to lick her hair messy as a girl
before she learned the pain of growing up strong

and being a faithful friend to her father god jesus

Daark One,

You know that I love your writing.  I have certainly gushed that enough times; but, this is among my favorites of yours.  I love when you write like this.  You are among the best of the best, my dear, Dark friend.

This is beautiful.  I'm sorry to hear about your Momma, Dark. Really sorry.

There must be a poem in here somewhere.

One of the most compelling tributes to a life I've ever read.

Dear friend of mine,

I didn't say I was sorry, but I hope that you know that I am.  I figure you do.  I am thinking of you.

This is painfully beautiful

and yes, I know to every season,
but it does seem at times, that
one season lasts so much longer
than all of the others.

My prayers are with you, and her.

ms sun...I refuse to mourn, more of a celebration of her passing on to her next stop...she described it a riding in a car on a long trip and looking forward to getting out and walking around in a new place she had not been before..I held her hand for a bit and asked what kind of car it was...she said it was high performance with lots of power and leg room and it had harley decals on the windows..we laughed quickly before she closed her eyes.

I'm glad it was a good passing, and that she was there all the way to the end.

Maybe she will send you some snapshots
to dream upon.

I am so sorry, Dark Stranger.  Despite your outward (and inward) bravery, it is a very hard time for you.  I am heart-warmed that you are strong and wise enough to celebrate her life rather than mourn her death.  She was/is obviously a strong, wise, warm-hearted, witty and wonderful mother and 90 years is a wonderful span to celebrate.  I envy you and her.  I am so glad that you were with her in her last moments, and that she made them Harley laughter moments and perfect memories for you.  Now, you can take her and her laughter with you on all your trips. And more than anything, for her sake, I am deeply glad, relieved and happy that she was a friend of her “father god jesus.”

Dark
It's all been written in the previous posts and I know you appreciate your friends here and their warm hearted condolences.
At this time I'd like to mix mine in with theirs and say how I enjoyed this down to earth expression of love and care for your mother.

Take care and savour the memories as they'll always carry you through the best of times and the worst of times..

Eric
