Fair to middlin' of nowhere

0 posted 2011-02-16 07:12 PM

I confess of failings
Falling for flattery
Taken to heart…

With hope
I might
Dare believe
A dream
Realized…

That my
Inner conversations
Were meant for
More than just me…

I wasn’t alone

Muttering
Nonsense
To the dark…

Calling out
For kindred
Of my own
Who understood
My words...

Written in
Mother tongue

this is so heart-felt, Lori...very beautifully expressed

There must be a poem in here somewhere.

I think we all would like to think someone hears and understands, Lori.

Sad isn't it that flattery is really insincere cause it sounds so nice at the time.
Great confession kid!
More to all of us than we'd like to admit sometimes.
I enjoyed this very much.

As you so beautifully and succinctly say, Lori, the reason why we sometimes fall for flattery, is that it is the poor cousin of admiration and understanding, something that we all seek, whether we admit it or not – and it is very healthy to seek it, for “no man is an island” and harmony in the world can only be achieved if we actively and positively seek deep this communication and interaction with each other.  The lack thereof, in my humble opinion, is the greatest core reason for fall-outs especially in marriages.  The first step to achieving this, is, as you have done, to admit that you want it.  So bravo for having the courage and perspicacity to do so, and bravo for having the art and skill to create a(nother) beautiful poem, Lori.  I especially love the last two stanzas.
